Eagles May Trade For John Franklin-Myers To Strengthen Edge-Rusher Depth.

With the free agent departures of Josh Sweat and Milton Williams, the Philadelphia Eagles know they need to make sure the losses at edge rusher are focused on enough this offseason.

In a way, they have. Philadelphia has signed Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari to the team in the hopes they could provide needed depth to a group that has taken some major losses this offseason.

The Eagles may not be done in that regard, though.

Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes that while the Eagles could look to address the edge position in the Draft, they could also look to acquire Denver Broncos edge rusher John Franklin-Myers to help in the run defense.

"While the Eagles did add edge-rushers Azeez Ojulari and Josh Uche, they could use another bigger body to help replace Williams," Knox wrote. "John Franklin-Myers could be just the candidate Philly needs. Franklin-Myers (6'4″, 288 lbs) fits the size profile of Williams (6'3", 290 lbs) and is a disruptive defender with some positional versatility. He previously spent time at defensive tackle with the New York Jets and finished last season with seven sacks, eight tackles for loss and 18 quarterback hits."

Franklin-Myers has been known as a tweener since he arrived in the NFL with the New York Jets and Los Angeles Rams over the last five years. He has recorded 26.5 sacks in his six-year career.

He is coming off a career-high seven sacks with the Broncos and was a key part in Denver making the postseason last year.

JFM's ability to produce in both pass rushing and run defense is paramount for any Vic Fangio-led defense. And that's why the Eagles could be a great fit for the veteran in 2025.
